Robertsdale, Baldwin County's "Hub City"
Robertsdale calls itself "The Hub City of Baldwin County" due to being approximately mid-point from one side of the county to the other and near the center north to south. It's location is convenient to shopping dining, I-10, beaches and an abundance of rural area.
For those who want to get involved in the community, there numerous opportunities through the schools, civic and volunteer organizations, and churches.
It is home to the Baldwin County Coliseum and Fairgrounds. The coliseum is more than an event center. It is the first-of-its-kind tornado and hurricane shelter facility funded through FEMA. The fairground hosts the annual county fair as well as events in the horse arena throughout the year.
The town of Robertsdale was incorporated in 1921 after having been established in 1905 by the Southern Plantation Development Corporation from Chicago, Ill., when the company ran the Louisville and Nashville Railroad south through the county. Agriculture and timber were the primary economic engines at the town's beginning. The economy is now much more diverse as to how residents make their living.
