As Foley grows, Elberta is also growing.

It is holding onto its small-town and rural traditions amid a growing population that wants to be close to the beach and substantial shopping in Foley, but away from some of the traffic.

In fact, it's growing so quickly that it now has its own high school that serves Elberta and Lillian. (The 2020-2021 school year with be the first with a senior class.) The school has already received great reviews and has all you would expect from a high school, including sports and music programs.

Elberta is also known for honoring the heritage of its German founders by the local volunteer fire department holding the Elberta German Sausage Festivals twice a year (last Saturday of March and October) serving sausage made especially for them from a special recipe. It also includes arts and crafts, and live entertainment.

To learn more about Elberta and Baldwin County history in general, visit the Baldwin County Heritage Museum south of town on U.S. Highway 98.

Elberta's economy is still primarily focused on agriculture and ranches. Visit the Elberta Farmers Co-Op for supplies, baby chicks and expert advice, even if your farm is more of a garden. Elberta also has it's own VFW post, civic organizations and churches of varied traditions.
